Transaction recovery and 'unknown' status

A cashier has put a transaction through the POS and the customer has made a payment but the POS does not recognize any payment has been made. The POS then notifies the cashier of an ‘UNKNOWN’ transaction status.

Scenario explanation:
The ‘UNKNOWN’ transaction status is displayed when the POS is unable to receive a response from the Eftpos terminal on whether the payment was successful or has failed. To resolve this, the POS needs to provide an ‘Override As Paid’ functionality. This is where the POS operator can manually check the EFTPOS terminal to see the payment status and if the payment was successful, they can select ‘Override as Paid’ to mark the payment as successful on the POS. If a customer needs an EFTPOS receipt the POS operator can manually print this from the Eftpos terminal.
